Right after the Brașov Grand Prix Classic and Alba Grand Prix, players have the chance to continue their chess journey at the Arad Grand Prix Classic, taking place from August 3-9. With a strong tradition and record-breaking participation in previous years, this tournament is a key stop on the Romania Grand Prix circuit, offering a competitive classical chess experience.

About Romania Grand Prix Arad 2025


Following the success of the Brașov Grand Prix Classic, the Romania Grand Prix circuit continued with the Arad Grand Prix Classic, held from August 3 to August 9, 2025. With a strong tradition and a growing international reputation, the Arad stage has become one of the key events of the circuit, attracting over 300 participants from multiple countries and offering a total prize fund of €38,000.
Beyond the competition itself, the Arad Grand Prix stood out as a complete chess festival, offering a wide range of side events that enriched the overall experience. Participants could take part in activities such as football and table tennis tournaments, a wine tasting trip, Fischer Random and blitz competitions, blitz pairs and bughouse events, as well as educational and interactive formats including the “Education through Chess” Kids Tournament, a solving competition, and a pub chess quiz.

Arad, one of western Romania’s most elegant and culturally rich cities, stands as a gateway between Central and Eastern Europe, where history, architecture, and a vibrant urban atmosphere come together.
