In 2025, the Romanian Chess Federation proudly celebrates its Centenary – 100 years of promoting and developing chess in Romania. Marking a century of tradition, excellence, and passion for the game, this milestone will be honored in grand style with the launch of the Romania Grand Prix, turning Romania into the new European “Chess Capital”!

To commemorate 100 years of existence, the Romania Grand Prix will bring together top players in five exciting open tournaments – 2 classical and 3 rapid events – with a total prize fund of €150,000.

The tournament will take place in five of the most beautiful cities in Romania: Bucharest, Sebeș, Brașov, Arad, and Craiova. With chess players from over 50 countries expected to participate, the Grand Prix promises to be a truly international event, celebrating both the future and the proud history of Romanian chess.

With high-level chess and a competitive spirit, each tournament will be a must-watch event. The games will be live streamed on the official channels of the Romanian Chess Federation: Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
